Spy Shots: 2019 RAM 1500 Interior Revealed

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is nearing completion on the next-generation 2019 Ram 1500 light-duty pickup, one of the most important vehicles in its portfolio.

Spy photographers recently captured this peek inside the upcoming trucks cabin, giving us the clearest glimpse yet at the new Ram 1500 interior.

The 2019 Ram 1500 is expected to feature updated technology and amenities, including FCAs most recent 8.4 UConnect infotainment system. The photos also show a redesigned instrument cluster and steering wheel to give the Ram a more modern look and feel.

The current 2018 Ram 1500 on dealer lots now is also available with the 8.4 UConnect system.

However, the new truck, confirmed for a debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this January, will feature an updated version of UConnect that is for now only available in the Chrysler Pacifica minivan.

The photos also show redesigned center controls, complete with large knobs to accommodate workers wearing thick gloves while on the job. The gloss black features and extensive leather indicate this Ram 1500 may be an upscale Laramie or Limited trim.

Another key feature is the steering wheel. Updated for the next-generation Ram 1500, it replaces a large and bulky design full of buttons with a sleek and simple look.

Other changes include large, bold instrument dials set inside a stylish gauge cluster prominent Ram badging is front and center to face the driver.

After getting a good look at the new trucks headlights and taillights, as well as a future version of the popular Ram Rebel off-road variant, this most recent sighting delivers a clear picture of the larger cabin area in the upcoming model.

The new 2019 Ram 1500 should prove roomy for passengers in both rows, and still maintain plenty of cargo space. A split tailgate option and the innovative Ram Box additional cargo space in both sides of the bed are expected to assist loading and hauling as well.

Ram trucks make up a huge profit-center for FCA. Through the first seven months of 2017, sales of the Ram 1500-3500 have increased by 6.3 percent to more than 290,000 vehicles compared with the same period in 2016, according to industry research firm Autodata Corp.

Thats good enough to be the third best-selling vehicle in the U.S., behind only the Chevrolet Silverado in second place and top-seller Ford F-Series.

Trucks and other large vehicles are valuable to automakers because they are typically sold at higher price points than smaller vehicles even though they are not much more expensive to build.

very nice interior which transitioned well away from 2016 models
one thing that stands out to me is the fact is the steering wheel has less buttons but that might be due to it being a lower trim
could less steering wheels buttons be in RAMs future?

So long as I can reach the inner steering wheel buttons with my thumbs and not needing to stretch. I do like how clean everything looks including the center console.

I thought the new tailgate design that splits in the middle like a shed door was not confirmed and more of a patent that may or may not be used.

Heard the interior may have a rotary gear selector, I'm not a big fan of those even though it seems to be the new norm with Ram. Hoping for something more traditional but it won't deter me even if it really is a rotary.
