Recall for seat sensor

Ram will be recalling some 2019 1500 trucks, due to an issue with the seat track position sensor on the passenger seats. As this connection could be loose, it will prevent the vehicle from knowing whether the seat is in the full forward position or not. This could have an impact on frontal airbag deployment during a crash. https://www.consumeraffairs.com/news...ed-121418.html

Chrysler will notify owners and dealers will inspect the passenger seat track position sensor bracket, replacing it as necessary, free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin January 9, 2019.

Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is UB7.

With only 23 affected units, I doubt that any new owners on here need to be concerned. Fords F150 is having a much more serious ongoing issue with fires as a result of faulty block heaters.

It does seem like we have seen non stop recalls across the industry this year. Some have definitely been more serious than others, like the frame weld issues that we saw on the JL.

This sure beats the past recalls RAM had, one of the most notorious being loose tailgates, which definitely doesn't help with tailgate thefts that used to be so common (now not so much)

If you look at how many different publications are recognizing the 2019 1500 as the truck of the year, it quickly becomes apparent that FCA has done their due diligence this time around. The issues being seen on the F150 will only help to sway more newcomers to the brand.

Not always are what publications report reflect what owners go through.

I'll come to my own conclusion with results from the people who are actually out there every single day.

Long term reliability will still have to be proven, but initial build quality seems to be up to par. There are some new owners who have found that water has been getting into the cabin, but I don't know if a source has been determined.

More than likely just a bad seal on a window/sunroof, but I would like to hear if an affected owner has found the culprit. There has also been mention of some software issues with the new infotainment system, but that's fairly common on new model these days.
