Ram 1500 V8 towing MPG

The Fast Lane truck set out to determine what real world fuel economy is like in the Hemi while towing. During their 100 mile test loop with a 7,000lb trailer they were able to get an average 9.4mpg, which is a big improvement over older Ram models that they have tested.

Pretty decent fuel economy considering the 3.92 gears in the rear. Never been a big fan of Rams tow mirrors though, but hopefully we see some aftermarket alternatives.

love those tow mirrors but can't help but express my experience and that is over time bugs will make that chrome finish age faster that you wish!

I personally think the truck looks better dechromed anyways, but you're going to have to pay extra for that. I'm not a fan of these tow mirrors either, I think Ford's are much better looking.

Chrome has long been part of truck culture and american car culture as a whole so we'll have to get used to seeing more of it.

Personally, pick up's are just about the only passenger vehicle I care to have chrome on.

I agree that Ram should really offer power folding tow mirrors, at least on the high end models. When you're spending this kind of money on a vehicle, it really shouldn't be omitting features like that.

What are the odds that Ram will one day offer the 6.4 in the 1500? I know that its an option on the 2500, but Chevy has the 6.2 and Fords got the more powerful Ecoboost.

Most automakers seem to be heading in the opposite direction, with smaller more powerful turbocharged engines. I think the future lies in hybrid 4 cylinders.

electric motors at the wheels should hopefully be part of it because when combined with the right technology we'll get incredible off road performance.

I've seen these new in hub electric motors that are pretty incredible. Best thing about them is they can be placed on essentially any vehicle, allowing you add both power and an AWD configuration.
